Classic "road-food" destination. Excellent Rhody clam chowder (broth-like with potato, onion and hefty clam-meat base). City people (Red Sox, Yankees and friggin' Bridgeport Bluefish fans (anybody with a major league or circus league ball-club) may call it "thin" but it's in true swamp-yankee style. Try the fried flounder, deftly fried, on platter or bun, really fresh fish, cleanly fried. The dog is a serious contender in the "wiener-wars" (seriously, the bun is browned with butter, the dog is a quality link, it's a beauty). The fries and onion rings are super (maybe even super-duper). Only problem is consistency. Here's a hint: when you look into the kithchen and see the short order cook, and he looks like an extra from "Oz", with the steely glaze of Clint (as in Eastwood), and the handlebar mustache, then you're assured of the real thing. The place is quirky ("please return the trays to the ordering station" and "no smoking while waiting for food"-this while you're waiting outside), but I love this place. Give it a shot, the price is right.
