Hidden Jewel in Gloucester, MA

My husband and I are flying in different directions all week long but we have committed Friday night as date night. We generally take in the latest matinee and then head for an early dinner somewhere to avoids the lines and crowds. Well, last night we shared the best meal in many, many Fridays. Franklin Cafe in Gloucester is the sister restaurant to the South End establishment in Boston. Everything from the food , atmosphere and service were excellent....and it didn't break the bank.
We shared their simple green salad made special w jicama and wasabi peas. I had the orange glazed salmon over roasted vegetables, greens and rice. My husband had the duck special which was served w carmalized cabbage in a yummy sauce w roasted potato. We also shared a side of spicy green beans which were dynamite (our waitresses favorite). The prices were VERY reasonable for the caliber of meal. Portions were ample. Most entrees were ~ $15. Salads and sides ~$3-6. Can't wait to go back.
