My daughter and I just spent a few days in the city and were directed here by my sister. We really loved it. Daughter had a chocolate croissant and I had plain.
We both had the single-brew Belgian coffee (they offer 2 brews, one stronger than the other) and found it to be the best cup of coffee either of us could remember having in a coffee shop. I like strong but smooth coffee and daughter likes it lighter. It was wonderful, rich and smooth with lots of good coffee flavor. We were both very happy. The owner (it's owned/run by 2 Belgians) said they've added a french roast coffee because many people want a larger cup of coffee and the ones we had are just a normal sized serving.
The croissant were crispy and flaky outside and tender and flavorful inside. Outstanding. The best I've had in the U.S.
I wish I'd grabbed a to-go menu as they had some delicious sounding sandwiches, including one made with goat cheese, honey, pistachio and thyme.
Seriously, I can't wait to go back. Such a nice find!
Re the location, it's *just * west of Michigan on Walton. (We passed it right by at first...)
By the way, we saved room because we wanted to try Sprinkles cupcakes just down the block. Wow, were we disappointed! Are we alone in this? Daughter had vanilla with chocolate frosting, I had vanilla with vanilla. Flavor seriously lacking and texture was dry and coarse. Neither one of us even liked it! Are our tasters off? Their appeal is lost on us.
