Heirloom tomatoes at the St. Lawrence Market

I found some heirloom tomatoes at the St.L--I think they were the Black Krims--but when chatting with the cashier, she said that they aren't selling well. I can kinda see why--they are expensive, and, when compared to uniformly shaped and colored tomatoes we usually get, they look mottled and lumpy, and consequently it's hard to judge whether you're getting a good one...and at $5.99 a pound, you don’t want to get stuck with a bad one.

I jumped in though, and got some large ones for the gazpacho I'm making tonight--hope they taste better than they look ;-)
