Heavenly Crullers in Brooklyn

I think I just stumbled into heaven. A couple of weeks ago I sent my husband out in the morning to get me something sweet. I was vaguely hung over and didn't feel like getting out of my bed unless it was to eat breakfast pastry. He brought home these killer crullers from College Bakery on Court Street (at Baltic). I have lived around the corner from the bakery for 6 years and now I'm kicking myself for having written off because of the merely serviceable pumpkin pie I once bought there. When warm these crullers are perfection. I challenge anyone to tell me where else you can get perfection for 35 cents!!! Last Saturday I went back and got an assortment of breakfast pastries: crullers (of course), coffee cake, cheese danish (pretty good with a crumb topping), donuts and crumb cake (delicious, with the haunting flavor of orange flower water). They were all stuffed into a box the size of which led me to believe that I would be breaking the bank to pay for it. But no, the total was $3.45. Does it get any better than this?
