Little Havana in Deerfield Beach

Finally tried this Cuban last night. Nice place. A throwback to the 70's or possibly even earlier, it's a large place on Federal Hwy (US 1) with a nice square bar set apart from the restaurant with glass block and sporting mirrored columns. There's an area for the Latin band that plays on Wed. to Sat. Lots of white table cloth covered tables, many full last night--Tuesday. All this "nice restaurant" ambiance is still very inexpensive. I had fabada, a very tasty bean soup with chunks of pork and sausage, for $3.50 and oxtail stew for $8.95. The latter was an enormous portion of fall off the bone meat in a nice gravy with a few peas. It was served with rice, black beans and plantains. I'm no expert on Cuban food, but this sure was tasty food. My husband had pulled beef, fish soup and a tomato salad, all of which he also found delicious. I had half a pitcher of sangria (the only not so hot item, appeared to have canned fruit in it)and hubby had two Cuban beers and the whole thing with tax came to $56 + tip. We'll definitely go again. I recommend this place to anyone in the Pompano/Deerfield/Boca area looking for a fun place with low prices.
