Haute Dish

Stopped in for the first time last night to the old Waters and Cafe Havana location. I had spent a lot of time at Waters many moons ago. First, the bar. Great selection of American Whiskeys. I was about to order a Manhattan when I spied the Minnesota Mule on the drink list. Moscow Mules are one of my all time favorite summer drinks. However, I will only drink them in the requisite copper mug. I was really surprised and excited to find out that they served their Minnesota Mule in a copper mug so I went for it. I was not disappointed. It was outstanding. They call it a Minnesota mule because they use organic Minnesota Vodka. They added a nice touch with crystallized ginger for the garnish.

On to the food. We had some fries at the bar that were really wonderful. The seemed like they were cooked in something other than vegetable oil. A buddy and I then split the MAc Cheese - with king crab, tellegio and truffle. It was really great. The pasta was fresh and it was a great combination. I then moved on to the highly recommended Tator tot Haute Dish. It did not disappoint. Probably some of the best short ribs I have had in town with the green beans and a hint of truffle oil. The tator tots were deconstructed and very interesting as well.

My friends raved about the fried chicken and the pork and beans.

I would highly recommend going out and trying this restaurant. The chef (I believe was responsible for the Bulldog menu) has done a great job of remaking traditional dinner items in creative and interesting new ways.
