Harry's is an odd place for the south bay.
I have lived in Torrance since '90. The only bbq here has been some odd Chinese smoked bbq placed now out of business called ABears and of course Lucilles. And along comes Harry's.
Harry's smokes his meats for 10-12 hours slow over oak. This flavor is sweet and creates a tender juicy seal on all of the meats I have had here. I have only not tried the hot links.
The smoking is great and the sauce is a sweet bbq sauce not too far from Lucilles. The spicy sauce was missing from my 2nd order so I can not say how it was.
$13 gets you 3 St Louis cut ribs, 5 slices of moist tri-tip, and a gigantic chicken breast that is moist and full of smoke flavor and juice.
I am a regular at Woodys, Phillips, and Jay Bees.
Recently(the past 6 months) I have noticed a bad trend.
Woody's has slided some. Phillips is so stingy on sauce that I wondered where I was and the meats were skimpy than the past. JayBees has been the only consistent thing really. But the sides at Jaybees are just fillins for you fill up on.
I wish Harry's was closer to North Torrance its 2 blocks north of PCH and 4 blocks east of Crenshaw so more of you could try it out and keep them in business.
Until then Ill be making lots of trips south. Oh and another huge plus Harrys packages all of your sides and meats seperately! Finally someone understands that not all of us want bbq sauce in our potato salad unless we put it there. hehe
