We went camping last weekend in Wilson State Park, in the town (really IN the town) of Harrison. A lesser light of Michigan's campgrounds, but we came home with the best pasties I think I've ever had.
In the middle of town there is a Masonic lodge, with one of those portable marquee signs, advertising pasties Thursday-Saturday. So I went in to find a nice older lady at a card table selling pasties. Choice of chicken or beef, fresh or frozen, $5 each. Gravy (an envelope of mix) $1
We took the pasties home (camper sadly does not have an oven, LOL, but it does have a fridge that kept them nice and cold on the ride back) and baked them for lunch. Each pasty is about as big as your head, filled with perfectly diced carrot, rutabaga, and potato, along with ground beef. Pie crust was flaky and delicious.
So if your Pure Michigan summer travels take you to the area, I totally recommend a stop.
