Gus' Grill

The Statesman's Michael Corcoran went on a month-long search for the best Austin East Side eats and one find was Gus' Grill, 3223 E. Seventh St. According to Corcoran Gus Melgar bought Chumikal's from his parents and made slight menu adjustments, replacing the Tex-Mex fare with chicken-fried chicken and the like.

I can't testify to the other food but the cheeseburger I had today (at $4 with fries) lived up to the T-Shirt motto of "Best Burger Joint in East Austin". It's worth a stop. Next week I'll try another on his list which I've referenced below.
