My most pleasurable, grown-up, non-gross-out birthday dinner at the Blue Room (in Kendall Square) last month, a restaurant I selected based on Chowhound posts:
seared scallops with hoisin-based (?) sauce
heirloom tomato salad with a dressing so delectable I had to restrain myself from licking the plate (OK, I used the Iggy's bread)
fresh grilled sardines that reminded me of a trip to Spain where I was introduced to some of the best food ever
seared tuna on rice with cucumber sambal
summer veal stew
trout with little crispy onions
tart buttermilk panna cotta with berries
and plenty of Vouvray demi-sec all round!
Yummmmmmmmmm. It's almost enough to make me forget I'm another year older.
