For an early Valentines Day celebration we went to Guilios of Tappan last night for the first time. I had heard that it was a good restaurant and also read some decent reviews on the net. I was really disappointed. The service was great, the fire place table was romantic, but the food - ehh.
We started out with Guilios Salad, which had a dressing very similar to a Good Seasons mix. Clams oreganata, no taste. although the clams had a good fresh quality. They made us garlic bread which was not on the menu, that was decent. My entree, shrimp fra diavlo was bland and so was my husbands shrimp parm. Both sauces were undercooked and taste like they just opened a can of diced tomatoes and poured it over the plate then put it in a microwave to cook. For dessert I had the mint parfait which had way too much creme de menthe, but that really didn't bother me, I just stirred it up and turned it into a grasshopper.
I wonder was this place ever really good? I know we won't go back, but I am still curious to know.
