Carrying over from last month:
Oakland did not have any of the Straus butter. However they did have the $3.99 Lunatic white wine blend 2011:
"Here are the tasting notes:
2011 Lunatic White Wine Blend
This Lunatic White is intensely aromatic, densely flavored, muscular but supple, graceful and delicate. This wine is full of contradictions and charming mysteries. It is an alliance of the aromatic Symphony, Arneis, Albarino and Viognier on a foundation of richly flavored Chardonnay. Jasmine, apricot, ripe pear and fresh white peach meld in a succulent compote. The wine is much more than the sum of its parts…insanely good!"
I would have to agree that it's very good: aromatic and fruity on the nose and palate, but with a nice bite of acid on the finish to keep it from being too cloying or soft. Really quaffable.
Any comments on the Echelon Russian River Pinot Noir (at $5.99)?
For your pets, they had a good stock of Murr pet food from Iceland http://www.murrfoods.com), pouches at 50 cents each. I see they sell for about $2/pouch ($24 for a box of 12), so that's a real steal for what looks to be a premium product.
