Thai Arui (sp?) is a brand new restaurant that opened a few weeks back and is terrific! Lot's of fresh kaffir, lemongrass, thai basil...all the real deal! And the waitstaff is lovely. Very nice room (though I hear it is essential the same design as the previous restaurant that tanked last summer) with bright windows (street view sadly)and beautiful photos & paintings for sale decorating the walls.
Lunch specials range from $6.99 (tofu & veggies) to $13.99 (duck) and include a daily appetizer. Dinner averages about $2-4 more. The first time in I had a Pad Kee Mao (my favorite here so far) and my friend had the Pad Thai for a total of $16.83, not bad for a hearty lunch here in Provincetown.
Today I went with another friend and shared a bunch of apps- fish cakes (5 yummy rounds redolant of kaffir), a satay combo (3 chix 3 beef- moist and flavorful), pork dumplings (crisp fried, a bit more ginger would be nice though) chicken wings (tender crunchy and meaty but nothing special otherwise) and an order of sticky rice for $30. The apps are nice but I would stick to the entrees.
They are open 7 days from 11:30-10pm, though being the Cape I would call ahead to see if they are in fact open (I have worked in a few places that post 10pm but close earlier when it is a slow night.)and will be doing delivery soon! I am so happy not to have to drive all the way to Hyannis for good food now!
They are located at 11 Carver St INSIDE the Gifford House and above Purgatory. Parking is little to non-existent so try the municipal lot nearby at the high school.
