Great Tavern food

I recently discovered the Prescott Tavern on Preston street in Ottawa which has been around for decades. This old Tavern has been owned by the same Italian family since the 40s and the food is great. There specialty is the Meatball Sandwich as well as the Square Pizza. It's very cheap yet the quality is very high and you can tell it's all homemade. Their meatball sandwich is spicy with a hint of cloves, very meaty and the meat is of good quality and very lean. They're priced at $4 with fries it's a bit more and the fries are the best I ever had - no joke. I tried the pizza last night and it was very good, a mini was only $5. Although the atmosphere is very much Tavernish, they surprisingly have a wine list that isn't too bad.

For those who want to join the Ottawa Chowhound club please send me an email. I will be arranging an evening at the Prescott Tavern as well as a trip to Kanata for the best Belgium Waffles.
