I´m a new york chowhounder visiting the bay area and I´m dying to see what muscle the left coast can muster in the dim sum department. I posted a message a few days back and received a number of responses, many of those disparaging Yank Sing and Ton Kiang. Few responses actually offered alternatives. I would love suggestions for an excellent authentic restaurant which:
1- serves dim sum either specific to a single region or representing many
2- is a cheap restaurant not filled with tourists.
3- offers the dim sum in carts
Thank you in advance for any suggestions you can offer. Locations and info re: which particular dishes should be consumed or avoided will be greatly appreciated.
