need a great restaurant for a special birthday

hubby is taking me out in april for a "special" birthday (one of those divisible by 10 ones), and he asked me to pick the place, wherever i want.

As reference, we tend towards byob's normally and I usually feel more comfortable when the bill tops out at 40-70 bucks (plus wine of course).

But this is a special occasion so I was leaning towards Lacroix. I've always wanted to try it, but I'm afraid if it's SOOOOOO expensive I won't be able to relax and have a good time. Also I saw some reviews on here recently that the portions were small and that people weren't all impressed. Opinions? Also exactly how high is the wine list (just a range would be great)?

I also thought of Django. I've been once (right after it first opened) and I hate to admit it, but I wasn't all that impressed. I thought it was good, but our portions were ridiculously tiny. After all the great press recently I've been wanting to give it another try.

So Lacroix or Django, or somewhere else that you can recommend? I'm open to all suggestions!

Thanks!
