My wife and I visited New Orleans two weeks ago and on a recommendation from Chris at Arnaud's French 75 Bar, we tried Attiki's over on Decatur.
Everything about the place was terrific, the food was great, Christoph, our server was attentive, very friendly and accomadating.
We tried three appetizers, the babaghanough was very good. The eggplant was smoothly blended and there was just enough of the tahini, olive oil and lemon jucie mixed in.
The tomato buffala was also great. The tomatoes were baked perfectly and the mozzarella was creamy and just salty enough.
We also tried the hummus. A perfect amount of garlic and just the right blend of chick peas, tahini, lemon and olive oil. My wife makes this at home and I love it. She said she though it was just as good as hers. I'm glad she said it because I was thinking the same, although I never would have said that to her.
We split the skewered jumbo grilled shrimp (actually, we had a double order) entree which was served over a bed of saffron rice. It also came with mushrooms, onions and asparagus. We also ordered a couple of sides. The garlic potatoes were delicious, as were the mixed vegetables.
If you're in their area, stop by, you won't be disappointed.
