Two Great Meals at the Cannery Cafe in Astoria,OR

This is one of my favorite lunch spots in Astoria, OR. I was craving a crabmelt sandwich here, but the first time we stopped in they had just ran out of crab.

I opted for the salmon sandwich which was very good, served on a very fresh homemade bun. The salmon was as if it had been caught just hours before it was cooked. Having the seafood in this area can really spoil you! There was a sauce (wasabi) on the sandwich that was a bit strong, but other than that it was excellent. I had the strawberry Italian soda which was very good. The sandwich is served with homemade Kettle chips.

My second lunch there, we were able to sit outside on the patio, taking in the gorgeous views of the Columbia River and the Astoria-Megler bridge. I ordered the crabmelt, which was excellent, served on toasted English muffins and topped with generous amounts of Tillamook cheddar cheese.

My daughter had a bowl of clam chowder, which she said was excellent. She did not like the chowder the previous day at Mo's, said it's too pasty and not very flavorful. This clam chowder was just right! Anyone in the area who loves a great crabmelt, this is the place for you! www.cannerycafe.com Bon Appetit! ***kim***
