I did a quick trip through the new Miki's Farm Fresh Market in South Palo Alto and was amazed. Fresh porcini's for $15/lb. Chanterelles for under 10 bucks. All kinds of exotic produce (fresh kaffir limes and much more), a cheese section like nobody else has. And the reasonable prices overall should embarrass what's left of the other high-end local markets.
After all, Andronico's closed. Mollie Stones is sort of like Safeway now. The miniscule Whole Foods is the worst one anywhere. Sigona's in Stanford Shopping Center seems to mainly sell candy and stuff from bins in recent years. I just hope Miki's doesn't go in the same downward direction, offerings-wise, that so many of the earlier places have gone.
So, has anyone been there? I'd love to compare notes with those who have done more than a quick run-through.
