Hi everyone. I'll be in NO at the end of the month for the NCAA Final Four. We'll be a group of six guys, and are looking for a great dinner for Sunday night. We'll be staying north of downtown near the lake, 10-15 minutes from downtown/FQ (no car, but are happy to take taxis). Ideal spot would be near the FQ or some fun bars/nightlife (uptown, warehouse), but I would rather have a great meal and then taxi to nightlife than have a "just OK" meal in the Quarter.
We already have a reservation for Cochon on Monday, and are looking forward to that.
Price point is not a concern, however as a group of six guys most of the more expensive places seemed more like the type of place you'd go with your wife on a special occasion. So, happy to pay for good food, but we'd likely prefer to steer clear of the more romantic, candlelight, white tablecloth places. I think we'd also prefer to have a reservation vs. taking our chances/standing in line but I could be persuaded on that point.
We have a strong preference for something unique to New Orleans -- we don't necessarily need a pure creole or cajun place, but would certainly love a place with a local spin. I have eaten and Dick and Jenny's, and that's the kind of place I am envisioning -- pretty varied menu but lots of NOLA influence in many of the dishes, and some truly unique NO dishes (e.g. gator cheesecake). I also really enjoyed Jacques-Imo's on a prior visit. As I don't get out to NO often, however, I'd like to try something new and avoid duplication if possible.
So, we have a provisional reservation at Emeril's for Sunday night - I guess the question is should we keep that res, or can you point us somewhere that better meets these criteria? I've trolled the lists for some time but can't seem to find the right fit that is also open on Sunday.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
