Great clams at unknown place

I don't think anyone here has ever mentioned Bob's Famous Fried Clams in Salem altho I'm not sure where I first heard about it (read something I think but not sure). It's on Rt. 107/Highland Ave. in a very unpicturesque part of Salem on the way to Lynn. My friends suggested going to that Floating Rock place which did seem like a good idea on a hot day. But one of them thought the food wasn't that great and seemed curious bout Bob's, so we left out atmosphere for amazing clams at the best price I've seen in ages. Order at the counter, grab a formica table booth and 5 min later, they call your # with perfectly fried, light batter fish. $7.95 got the small size which was the perfect amount of clams, onion rings and cole slaw. Tasty tasty tasty. One friend got fried haddock and one got shrimp, that were much nicer looking than most fried shrimp you see. Usually shrimp get an ugly dark bread crumb coating but this was the same light batter with good sized shrimp. With a small soda, mine was $9.60, a large plate was $13.95.

Some other places in the scenic part of Salem looked good. Got a good iced coffee at Fuel, saw lobster ravioli offered for $5.95(!) at Red's Sandwich Shop, but Bob's is worth a special trip. Just don't get rear ended on 128 south beyond Rt. 1 (a section I'm never on and I'm still asking myself why I didn't go my normal way).
