Great casual dinner at Blair's

My SO and I wanted to eat at a laidback "neighborhood" spot last night, so we walked into Blair's around 9, expecting to eat at the bar. We got lucky. They offered us a table in the dining room, but we chose to sit at one of the tables in the bar.

We were starving, and devoured some of the warm bread they brought. Let me tell you, that butter is extremely good. I tried not to eat too much of it but could not help myself.

I had a glass of Albarino and my SO had 2 beers. We started with a beet salad (with goat cheese, some greens and avocado), which was great, and a salad w/ pears, blue cheese and pecans in a vinaigrette. This salad was a bit heavy on the dressing - it just had slightly too much of a tang to it, but it was still pretty darn good.

We then shared the tuna tartare (with avocado - yumm), the fries (which I think can compete with any place in L.A. - this was the main reason why we came to Blair's last night), and an order of sauteed spinach. We had friendly, attentive service, and the bill for plenty of food, a glass of wine and 2 beers was $60. It was exactly the type of dinner I wanted last night, and Blair's delivered. We left extremely happy.

I'm so glad this place is in Silver Lake!
