Boy I just got back from a fabulous lunch at 900 Grayson. There were so many items on the small menu that looked tempting that I had a hard time deciding. I ended up with a fine bowl of curried squash soup with a tasty crouton on top. At many places, this would have been the star of the meal but with my other dishes, it ended up being rather pedestrian. I also got the seared scallop with pea tendrils, eggplant, some type of roe, and a few Chinese sausage medallions. The pea tendrils were dressed in a light vinaigrette. The server described it as a seared scallop but that the cook was still working on the details. I'm a sucker for scallops so I went ahead and I was glad that I did. My lunch companion and I shared a side of vegetables and these were absolutely outstanding. It was corn, asparagus, mushrooms, an two types of beans in a flavorful broth. I used some of excellent baguette to sop of the last of the broth. My friend ordered the waffle with gravy and seitan--she loved it.
We skipped dessert. The meal was so satisfying that dessert wasn't necessary.
