Grand Sichuan Int'l , Madras Mahal, and Dosa Hut Updates

The last time I tried to go to Madras Mahal, it was closed for "renovations." Not a huge surprise, then, that MM is no more. It is now called Uddipi Palace. The good news is that the menu is exactly the same. I hope the quality is the same, but my mission was to try the Dosa Hut for the first time in a long time.

The dosai are fine, and a couple dollars less than the alternatives, but everything else is several cuts below in quality, especially the curries.

Had a wonderful dinner tonight at the midtown G.S.I., including three dishes I haven't tried before: a refreshing appetizer of cold spicy & sour vegetables (by GSI standards, not too sour, not too spicy).

The two entrees we tried couldn't have been more different. The chicken with sour cabbage was mild, comfort food, that grew on us. But the real stunner was the Quick Sauteed Fresh Sliced Pork, hidden in the "Meats" section, which was beautifully charred, think slices of pork enhanced by black, red, and green peppers. Greasy and spicy is an irresistible combination.
