Grand Sichuan dinner, initial report

I don't have time to do a full write up of last night's big chowhound get together, so here's a brief report. I hope others will fill in details, add opinions, etc

There were 16 of us. We started eating around 8:15, and left around 11. There was a LOT of food. We had a good time. Gary Cheong supplied wine (yeah Gary!)

Overall, I think the food was very good, but I would have chosen differently from the menu....

Appetizers - Walnuts, octopus, Chinese cabbage (?), rabbit.....

Wild Chicken soup -This was really simple but very good.

Dumplings including one soup dumpling for each of us - not their specialty

Noodles in peanut sauce - these were pretty good, but there are other things I would have substituted

Entrees

Roast duck - too salty, but not bad at all, still, not really that interesting....Served over spinach

Fish (I think it was Chilean Sea Bass)with leaks

Frog - I liked this one a lot

Lobster - This was good, although, to me, the best thing to do to a lobster is steam it and serve it

(I can't believe I'm already forgetting things!)

Desserts

Walnut soup with meringue
Honey banana

Again, please fill in details!

It was fun!
