Grand Chau Chau

Haven't seen much about the Grand Chau Chau on this board lately, though I know it's been discussed--and to be honest, I've been to Peach Farm and Jumbo and Taiwan Cafe more often recently--but last night we stopped in at Grand Chau Chau and had a great meal--mostly old stand-bys but everything was well-cooked and really good--we had the spicy salted squid, which was not as spicy as it could have been, but the frying was melt-in-your-mouth and there were lots of chopped green peppers, we had the baby clams in black bean sauce, the steamed shrimp from the tank (and I still love their dipping sauce, which is really dense with fresh ginger, better than anyone else's), the peapod stems with real crabmeat,generous on the crabmeat, and the beef with ginger and scallion hot pot--succulent meat and enormous quantities of ginger, and the twin lobsters with ginger and scallion--everything tasted fresh and carefully cooked, and I came away thinking I had stayed away too long....
