My husband and I (foodies fr new yorker) will be staying in resorts in/near these two locales (which, I understand are about 45 minutes away from eachother) for 6 days in July. We have opted out of the 'meal pakages' that our resorts offer and want to eat good southern cooking for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We have a car for the duration of our stay. Any and all recommendations are welcome. Neither of us have eaten too much southern food and would love to experience anything fresh and/or local. We love grits, ribs, biscuits, BBQ, boiled peanuts, pecan prailines, pies -- I'm not even quite sure if these foods are local to specific regions or not. I've heard of a 'low country boil' but am not quite sure what one is or whether I could enjoy one in this area.
Thanks in advance for all the help!
