After living downtown for over 6 years, I am continually amazed by what passes for pizza in Baltimore.
I can't think of one place downtown that sells the thin, oily, "NY" or Neopolitan style that has the type of dough, cheese, sauce, oil and spice that makes for a great pizza. All I ever find is either the way too thick crust with the cheap tasteless cheese and no oil or spice, or the gourmet type of brick oven pie that has become a de rigeur part of every bistro's menu.
We know about and drive the 20-30 minutes to the county to eat at Piazza Italia ( Glen Burnie), Mama Lucia ( Harmans), Italian Gardens (Towson), or Fortunato Bros. (Govans ), but does anyone know of any place downtown that fits this bill? Matthews is great, but different than what I'm looking for
If there is none, maybe my friends and I should chip in and open one!
