good meal in a bad place

Went to Harvard Gardens tonight to watch the game with a pal who likes that bar. Am ever slightly grumpy here, as I remember when it was a good Beacon Hill dive instead of a vaguely yuppified singles bar. Had to eat, so got the "Cambodian pork tenderloin". Surprise: it was good! Lots of coarsely ground peanuts, fresh lemongrass, lime juice, barely cooked-through pork loin. Really quite nice, if not anything that would pass muster at Carambola. Good side of crispy snap peas, plus a pile of overdone jasmine rice which I ignored, and it was still a filling portion for $17. This is a Lyons Group joint, so venturing beyond the cheeseburger is always a huge gamble, but I was pleasantly surprised. (Too bad the game was a rout.)
