I recently asked for new sugestions for sushi on the Upper West Side and was sent to Miyako Sushi, and boy am I glad I was.
My friend had the Chirashi while I had the sushi deluxe with a few pieces a la carte. The fish was wonderfully fresh and I even enjoyed the raw shrimp which I have never liked before.
In addition to our dishes being very good, we were served a complimentary appitizer which was also wonderful.
And the service was attentive and gracious. It brought me back to my summer in Japan.
I am not saying this place will rival Nobu or Tomoe or even Yama if that's your bag, but for UWS sushi, it is as good as Haru and the like without the crowds and prices. The night I was there was not very full and I do hope they stay open because the UWS needs a Japanese staple of this kind where you can go weekly without breaking the bank or spending more time on line than you do at the table.
