Good Indian vegetarian in Montclair, NJ

A newcomer to the Montclair Indian restaruant scene is the vegetarian Udupi Village at 511 Bloomfield. So far I have made two weekend lunch visits and everything I've tried was above the 80th percentile. On my first visit I had a proper Mysore Masala Dosa; well done all around, maybe could have used a bit more stuffing. Next time around I tried the lunch buffet ($8.95, $7.95 weekdays) which had a good assortment of South Indian dishes. Particularly notable was a lovely hot/sour rasam (soup), lemon rice, bisbele bath (a lentil/rice dish), and several of the curries (especially the one made from turnips and the eggplant). Gives more of an impression of dedication to the cusine and cleanliness then one gets at the other Montclair Indians.

Cheers,
Joe Moryl
