Good Food Weekend

I'm really enjoying this site. I feel kind of bad cause I spend more time lurking than posting. The NY CHs were very helpful with my trip there last Thanksgiving, and the Chicago CHs have helped with my upcoming B-Day trip in April. Of course, I'm getting a lot of great tips from you guys. I discovered Pizzaola here and eat there Friday night for the 3rd time. 3 for 3! It's now in our normal rotation. We had a seafood stew which was reminiscent of Cafe Sporte (Prawns ala Antonio) in North Beach, beet salad and pizza. Saturday night we tried Sea Salt for the first time (another CH pick-up). Excellent! Started w/ oysters, then grilled sardines, grilled squid in a kind of pesto sauce and grilled Steelhead. The waitress strongly recommended the sardines, and steelhead. Last time we had sardines was in Portugal and we didn't like them. Seemed too fishy. But these were delicious. A nice Trefethen Chard and we were quite happy. Something about finding a new place that you like. My wife didn't like the decor but I like blue...
Sunday we had a late breakfast at Ella's - I think this is the best breakfaast place in the bay area. At leat that I've tried. The chicken hash is orgasmic. And then, an early dinner at Hunan on Sansom in SF - another old fav. We've been eating there about 26 years I think. We always order the same stuff - dumplings and onion bread, Marti Special, and Hot and Sour Beef. I always want to try something else but we go there because we are craving those dishes. What a great weekend! Thanks CH. Oh btw, I bought the CH book. I will see what we can find there too...
