It's birthday time and am looking for a unique gathering on a Sat. night next month. I'm guessing 20-30 people, many of whom will show up late, from all parts of L.A. I don't want to nurture participants, nor deal with last minute reservations - I'd rather just give out a time and place then deal with those who show at the annointed time. If people are late, they can wait for phase two in the lounge.
So I'm looking for a place that's central (213/323/310), offering decent but inexpensive eats for the timely and a bar/social scene for those who show up later (or who don't want to eat).
In the past we've done:
- El Coyote
- HMS Bounty, followed by Karaoke at Brass Monkey.
- Fish Company/Circle Bar
I'm wondering about the Thai place on Hollywood with
the Elvis singer. Something funky and fun. Thoughts?
I'm equally drawn to unique Indian, Japanese, Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai, Korean and other haunts that jolt guests into something new.
