Good, Fast and Reasonable Near the Kennedy?

Our return trips from points east often put us on the Kennedy in the late afternoon after about six hours on the road. We live a good 90 minutes past downtown, so we're often tempted to eat dinner near the expressway, but don't have the time or inclination to "explore" at that point in our trip.

Any recos for places VERY near the JFK (maybe north of Armitage, south of the junction) that could be both a well-timed break in the driving and a tasty spot to eat?

We dare not travel into River North for a touristy thing. And someplace like Ann Sather on Belmont is great, but too far east to be convenient so far as our wanting to get home is concerned. We could keep going to Arlington Heights or Woodfield area, but that risks being caught in traffic on the north end of the JFK.

Recos need not be fancy; cuisine is flexible, large varied menus are a plus, and, natch, a minivan full of (reasonably well-behaved) kids needs to be fed (and tolerated) at any establishment.

THX!

Keith
