The Good and the Bad in Ashland,OR

Well, our experience at Cucina Biazzi was not so pleasant. We were seated in a room with two large groups of 24 people. We waited out on the patio for about twenty minutes and then we were seated at a table for six in the back. The room was VERY loud, this was how we started out.

I think the whole place was full with graduation parties or something. There was only one other couple, seated outside in the back.

The waitress was very overwhelmed and took our order. I decided on the salmon entree and my husband the chicken. The antipasta tray was brought out and we weren't very impressed with that, then the second course.

I had the lobster ravioli which was very good, lobster was sweet and not tough, the pasta was too hot, scalded my tongue but other than that this course was very good. I believe I had a glass of Pinot Gris that night. My husband had the spinach and linguini which I tasted and it was also very good.

The third course was the salmon which was good, but nothing outstanding. My husband abhored his chicken, which he compared to a chicken sandwich at Burger King.

Also, we were seated right in front of a dreadful air conditioner that was uncomfortably cold. We were seated right in front of the kitchen and my husband was watching and didn't find it proper that the young cook kept handling the salmon over and over again without washing his hands. The fourth course was a salad, which was nothing to write home about. Service was neglectful and inattentive, basically so horrid that I didn't think we should tip, which we have only done once before.

For the grand finale, this just made the night, a waitress actually chased our car down and said we forgot to tip and that it comes out of her paycheck. Unbelievable! I said I knew that and that the service was neglectful and horrible. She as pissed.

I told our concierge at the Plaza where we stayed about our experience and he said he would be calling the restaurant later, that that was awful. We will not be back to this place, ever again.

We had a wonderful lunch at the Ashland Bakery & Cafe the next day. Wonderful selection of sandwiches, salads, pizzas and bakery treats. I had the eggplant sandwich on foccacia which was very good and my husband and daughter had a pizza which they said was one of the best ever.

For dessert, I chose the lemon tartlet topped with fresh raspberries and blueberries that was excellent. We will return here and I want to try their pannini next time. Bon appetit! ***kim***
