This morning I grabbed a bagel (really seedy) and cc from The Bagelry in SF for the ride up to Napa. A selection of bagels and spreads from Golden Bagel were offered at my morning meeting, offering the rare opportunity for an almost side-by-side comparison.
Golden bagels are the puffed-up roly-poly type a la Noah's, big with hardly any hole in the center. The sesame seed and the poppy seed types were heavily seeded, almost solidly coated on the top crust. Others were commenting on how heavy these were, but the density was far less than The Bagelry's. The crust had a satisfying chew, and the inner wasn't too fluffy to the bite. My own preference is for a denser, less wet style, but I bet these could be decent if toasted.
I tried the pecan/raisin cream cheese spread with piece of a poppy seed one. The pecans are nicely toasted for extra flavor, and while not crunchy, aren't soggy. A nice touch.
