Our first stop for a meal in the Wine Country was the Girl and the Fig on the Sonoma Plaza. I really enjoyed my lunch here last year and was yearning for a repeat visit.
We were promptly seated at a nice table at the back of the restaurant. I started with the fig salad which was excellent. A salad of fresh greens with arugula, pecans, "Laura Chenel" chevre, pancetta, fig & port vinaigreete. My taste buds were in heaven with this!
I chose the 2002 Imagery Artist Collection Viognier to accompany the lunch. We enjoyed this wine so much we had the server write it down to purchase it at the winery after lunch. It may be my favorite white wine I have ever tasted!
I chose the Dungeness crab cakes for my entree which were perfectly prepared. Wild mushrooms, meyer lemon-black pepper sauce drizzled over the crab cakes. Definitely the best I have had.
For dessert, the lavender creme brulee was the perfect finish to the meal. If this was the only meal I was able to have while on the trip, I would be perfectly satisfied. .
The Girl and the Fig was a definite hit and we will return again and again and again!!!! Bon Appetit! ***kim*** Service was also excellent!
