Giorgio's Bakery and Pizza, Armenian bread inSalem

Awhile ago, I added to a thread about Arax Market(Great eats in Belmoint/Watertown), mentioning an Armenian ciabatta-type bread available there, tho that doesn't begin to do it justice. The bread is called Matnakhash, and is a total delight. Ridiculously misformed loaves, flat, and about an inch and a half high, sometimes twenty inches long, and twelve inches wide, sometimes 8 inches wide, and so long they have to join two plastic bags together with rubber bands to contain them! It's moist, and chewy, you can cut it open for sandwiches, top it with stuff and broil it, or just tear hunks off and wolf them down, hopefully with the addition of great hummus, or some such thing....

I mentioned to the cashier at Arax how much I love this stuff. He says that the baker arrived from Armenia four years ago, and has a pizzaria, Giorgio's Pizzaria, at 400 Highland Ave in Salem. The Phone # is 978-744-5838....Supposedly, the bakery is right next door, but he didn't say if it was wholesale or retail...My guess is, even if it was wholesale, you could go in and ask for some bread from next door...Any North Shore types aware of this place? Altho I know great bread doesn't mean great pizza, at least not in the Neapolitan style, anyone try the bread? It's dirt cheap, and oh, so good!
