Since I've been working in the Eaton Centre, recently, I've been trying out a few places in the locale. I'm looking for a quick lunch that isn't too expensive.
Since I went to look at the CD stores, I decided to go up to Ginger 2 (which has taken over the location of the former Lindy's steak place).
I had the grilled pork with spring roll on vermicelli for $4.95. I ordered it at the counter, they gave me a number, I sat down, and the server found me. I got myself chopsticks and a spoon from a serving station, as well as a glass of water. (Points for having lemons beside the water faucet!)
The spring rolls were disappointing, as they were heavy (probably need to rotate their deep frying oil), although edible. The grilled pork was slightly overdone, but tasted fine. The vermicelli was fine, and the little dish of fish sauce was no surprise.
It may be hard to keep this location clean, because it gets a lot of traffic on Yonge Street. I'm not necessarily saying that the place is dirty, but on a sunny day, the interiors seem a bit dreary. I wonder what the place would look like if they turned up the wattage.
Would I go back? Probably, when I get tired of Chinese food in the neighbourhood, and want a change of taste. At the same time, I wonder if there are other Vietnamese places immediately nearby (maybe ones with tidier decors). (I expect to see a posting from saladkingfan any moment, but that's Thai and not Vietnamese).
