Who is Gerhard Michler? Fine European Desserts?

Is there a bakery on 950 Illinois Street called Fine European Desserts?

Waiter on Wheels started carrying his cakes and pasteries. I can't find much about him except that he provided the dessert for the Black and White Ball, did the desserts for a Masters of French Cuisine dinner at the Ritz and catered someone's wedding.

The day after Thanksgiving after a grueling cross country train trip, I was craving something sweet. Every bakery in town was closed. I called WOW and gave Gerhard Michler a try with mixed results.

You could tell that quality ingrediants were being used. However, it seems the desserts are either refrigerated or frozen for availability. I'm not sure if this was just due to the Thanksgiving holiday.

I had the stollen which suffered from refrigeration. I also tried one of the desserts - lemon delice which was described as yellow cake with a light lemon cream filling and a raspberry cream center garnished with a chocolate merangue and candied lemon zest".

It really was moe of a mousse on a round of cake that was about 1/8 inch thick. The raspberry center was still frozen. The chocolate finish was freshly piped and very good.

I see some potential here. I might even consider ordering a chocolate cake for a future event. Is there a real bakery?
