Am down on LBI for a few weeks and celebrating several birthdays/anniversary. Was looking for some good food, not necessarily the most expensive. Have lived here for 25+ summers but we have gotten into a 'Yellowfin routine' and so haven't explored much beyond there in the last 8- 10 years. Nothing against YFin but this year I'm looking to try something new.
One of our old time favorites was Green Gables, which I know is now The Gables. We were there maybe 4 years ago and had some wonderful food but over the years it has been very up and very down. It's a bit of a drive for us (we're much closer to YFin) and wondered if anyone has been there this year. I couldn't find any recent posts about this.
L'assiette is also close to us and the menu looks intriguing. BUT I have to say that a group of other family members went one day last year to Plate and would describe the evening as overpriced and not very good. I believe it's the same chef and location, just a new name. Is this recommended? (i.e. did they just hit an off-night last year?)
My other thought is Black-Eyed Susan's, which I see has gotten lots of press so might have trouble getting a reservation even on a weekday?
Appreciate any input.
