I'm very interested in making yogurt at home...I've found lots of resources for making plain yogurt, both in a yogurt maker and by traditional methods. However, I am at loss when it comes to finding resources that show me how to make flavored yogurt at home (stirring fruit jam or jelly into plain yogurt just doesn't cut it for me). I enjoy Swiss style (AKA French style or custard style yogurt) with the fruit already mixed in.
Some of the best yogurt I've had is Amish made whole milk yogurt...it's quite thick (but not greek style) and it tends to come in a variety of flavors. It's not clear to me if they are making a plain yogurt base and then adding the fruit in after it's set, or if the fruit, sugar, pectin, etc. is getting added prior to the yogurt setting.
Can anyone give me advice on making this type of yogurt? I prefer black cherry, peach or strawberry flavors.
