Frjtz/Ghirardelli Square

Went to the Ghirardelli Square branch of Frjtz for lunch today to try out their Belgian fries (sm $3/lg $4.50). Well, I just have to say they were remarkably...unremarkable. Aside from their presentation (thick cut- 1cm x 1cm and served in a paper cone), there was not much to distinguish them. Maybe I should have ordered the Garlic Frjtz version for the additional $.50. Contrary to what recommended, I found the jellied curry ketchup dipping sauce also unremarkable. You might do better with one of the other 11 sauces.

The crepes and sandwiches are much more promising. In fact, the sandwich (Basquiat - grilled chicken breast, pesto, onions, Swiss on focaccia) and crepe (Goya - rosemary chicken, red onions, pesto, roasted peppers and Swiss) were delicious. Both were a bit pricey at $6.95, but this WAS Ghirardelli Square.

They have a nice selection of Belgian beers, and some techno/ambient background music to complete the experience.

Enclosed patio and outdoor seating also available.

I'd definitely go back if I were in the area and try some of the other sandwiches and crepes. But I'll probably skip the fries.
