some friday/saturday snacks in Boston

I was in Boston for 24 hours and managed to have some very good food! In addition to dim sum this morning (see link below), I had time for other meals and snacks.

Had takeout dinner with two friends last night from Greek Corner in Cambridge. Great lamb souvlaki sandwich, really good appetizer medley platter (which we shared), taramosalata was very creamy, tzasiki was great, melanzatasalata had bits of chopped tomato mixed in with the eggplant which was delicious.

Stopped by Danish Pastry House in Medford and spent 5.75 (!!!) on two small pastries that I was giving to my friend: one marzipan/mango/blueberry thing and one mini-apple pie type pastry. I felt annoyed that I was paying so much. I only got to try the apple one and fortunately I was VERY impressed. It looked like it would be stale and boring, but it was just the opposite. It was almost cakelike with a pie-like crust, with layers of cake, apple-pie type filling and marzipan (or maybe it was almond flavored??). Either way, it was delicious, as it should be for 3 dollars!

Stopped by O Cantinho today and picked up 4 pasteis de nata to bring home to Amherst, MA. I just shared one, they are truly awesome.

4 pasteis de nata = 2 pastries from DPH = $5.75

Yea.

On my way back to Amherst, stopped in at Infusions Tea Spa for a bubble tea for the road. Delicious green tea with boba and conveniently close to the Mass Pike.
