Fresno Musings

Enjoyed a recent visit to Fresno and sampled a couple new spots.
First, Upstairs Downtown: Visited on a Wednesday evening and the place was empty. Lovely room and absolutely stunned by the food! I had the Rack of Pork and my friend had the Duck Breast. So well prepared! Why is this place empty? This is among the finest meals I have enjoyed in all of California! The wine(Castoro Cellars Zinfusion) was reasonably priced and the rose petal ice cream dessert was a delight.
Taqueira Don Pepe on Blackstone: The most delicious mexican style shrimp cocktail I have ever had! I huge bowl-like glass chock full of jumbo shrimp (a dozen) swimming in a tasty tomato based light juice, diced avocados, onions, and tomatos. Wow. And I finished off with a couple of pork tacos.
Any thoughts on these places? Why is Upstairs Downtown not a jammed destination restaurant? Expensive but worth it.
