Fresh pasta SOS

My husband was in the middle of making sheets of pasta when he had to run off and do an errand. The dough is only supposed to rest for 15 minutes. Would I be better off sticking it in the fridge, or leaving it on the counter until he gets back? Could be four or five hours, and I'm grossed out by the idea of anything with eggs sitting out that long... Thanks in advance!
