French Pastries and a Tea House

It's nice that these two are across the street from one another --- makes a great Sunday excursion.

We visited El Pain Quotidien and got a belgian chocolate brownie, a French cream donut, Almond pound cake. The brownie was probably the best. the pound cake tasted somewhat like a fruit cake. But the pastries and atmosphere were nice. Walked across the street to Elixir, a pretty serene tea house. Tried their tonic drinks. I think they're more for those that believe tea should be sweet. But Elixir has other green teas you can order. We brought pastries into Elixir since they pair well with the tea.

Question for everyone: Does anyone else know of any tea houses like Elixir, where the emphasis is on tea and a coffeehouse atmosphere (not doing the whole English tea like the Rose Cottage or Chado Tea Room). I'm wondering if there are any others in LA?

danke in advance.
