Yesterday, I had lunch at Fréderic Simonin, and all I can say is : wow ! i had the 38 euros menu, which is a bargain, given the quality of food we were served. It was simply incredible. You can watch my photos here (hope the link works) : https://cid-09ab8953f2f00519.photos.l...
The à la carte items were quite expensive (about 20 euros for a starter, 50-60 for a main and 10 for dessert) so we were expecting to have just OK food for the cheap menu, but you can trust me, it was unbelievable. I am sure this restaurant will get a michelin star very soon.
I will write a full review on my foodblog soon, but wanted to share my excitment. ;-))
On the pictures, you can see an amuse-bouche with foie gras, parmesan and port reduction, then for me snails (yes) with hazelnuts and lettuce cream, my friend had an egg cooked in cocotte with mushroom cream, as a main we had "pattes noires" poultry, jerusalem artichoke and a very long macaroni in a truffle sauce, I had black inkfish risotto with baby squids and swiss chard. I am not a fan of black inkfish, but I was in an adventurous mood that day and OMG how tasty this dish was, with abolutely no acrid taste usually found in black ink fish. Desserts : a bayley's panna cotta with coffee ice-cream and coffee whipped cream, and a dome with praline, stuffed with pear bites and pear coulis.
Coffee was served with a financier and a soft caramel (coffee is not included in the price).
Well, all i can say, is go, go, go !
