Noticed that some way down people were debating Frantoio in Mill Valley. My girlfriend and I went there on Saturday and loved it.
The decor is maligned in many of the reviews, but I thought the building (inside) was a very attractive environment for a meal. The high arched ceiling -- with those bueatiful beams -- was particularly attractive.
Food was very good. Not excellent, but very good. The mussels contorno in a garcl broth is a must order appetizer. The antipasti was also delicious.
We had a taglietelle with a rabbut ragout and a rissoto that were both delicioius.
Only disappointment was that the service was only average. Otherwise, Frantoio is a restraurant that anyone in Marin should check out if they want some fine Italian food.
